What Do your Dreams Mean?
Posted on June 6, 2010What do your dreams mean? This has not been clearly answered by science yet. It is possible that they are a means of exercising the brain and still function effectively. Some scientists argue that the dream is a way to categorize and “file” the things that have not been sufficiently addressed in the day. That would explain why daily events so often become a part of this dream nights.
Dreaming seems necessary. In experiments, people were prevented from dreaming being awake whenever they began, as evidenced by their REM or “rapid eye movement”, which accompanies the dream. This seems to cause mental distress, although this has often been shown in nothing more than increased attempts to dream. This awakened an equal number of times, but at random, does not seem to suffer much.
We may need to dream, but we do not know why, and we could argue endlessly about the meaning of the content of our dreams. However, despite this ignorance most of what it means to dream, we know that there are ways that we can use our dreams. A couple examples follow.
You can occasionally reminds me of a dream you had that was better than most movies you have seen. Sometimes you can not even feel like waking from a dream, because it is so nice. Maybe you wish you can have more dreams like these.
You can, for waking up in the dream and take control. Will you fly over the lake? Or join the party? You can send your dream if you know you’re in a dream. It’s the idea behind lucid dreaming.
Is it effective? Many swear that they are aware and regularly checks on their dreams. I had more of a dream where I was talking with someone that we were in a dream (and of course it turned out to wake up). Without getting into an argument about what consciousness is, it is still easy to see how much fun these “controlled dreams” maybe.
A common way to induce lucid dreams is to have a “trigger” that reminds you that you are dreaming. This trigger can be any common object that you’re likely to see in a dream. If you choose a clock, for example, whenever you see one, you say “I’m dreaming right now and can do what I want.” Once this habit, you’re likely to say when you see a clock in a dream, then “wake up” the fact that you are dreaming. Then you can take control and have fun.
Dreams mean a chance to solve problems
I had a number of good ideas come in dreams. In fact, many pages of my website began as a dream. For creative ideas and solve problems in your dreams, try some of the following.
1. Make a mental work in the area you want ideas or a solution. Think about it, write some notes down, and consider solutions. This work signals the brain that the subject or problem is important, it will continue to work on below the consciousness.
2. Turn off the alarm. If you wake up naturally, you’re more likely to remember your dreams.
3. Keep a recorder or a pen and paper beside your bed. Write down ideas you have if you wake in the night, especially when you wake in the morning.
4. Lay still when you wake up, and review of your dreams. This process “sets” them in your mind, do not forget so easily. You can think back to them later, to search for useful ideas.
These techniques are not yet scientifically “proven”. However, after having had lucid dreams, I can say that they are at least entertaining. Also, after using many techniques to get good ideas of dreams – and always with more success than when I do nothing – I am convinced that there is some value in this game of our dreams, whether or not we ever fully understand what it means to dream.
